Can Articles & Bookmarks Rank You in Top 10 On Google?

You bet they do.  Sweet multiple listings too. And in spite of bla-bla about duplicate content (penalties are only on it being on your site), that also ranks… Social Bookmarks no longer rank as they used to last year, but Digg still gets to the top – in minutes! Just remember, that although Digg and similar SBM (Social Bookmarking) sites can rank high fast for your keyword, it will usually not last long. This other SEO experts don't tell you. It is doable, but will Cost a Lot to maintain all these rankings and the rankings of new rankings…

All these web2.0 authority sites are part of what Google views as live ongoing "online conversation". Google wants to reflect current public interest and serve hot topics of discussion in its SERP (Search Engine Results Pages).
However, the nature of conversation is it dies out – or goes on… So if you continue feeding it new updates it will go on, if not it will eventually die out of the top rankings.

Another point to keep in mind is that every niche and every keyword have different levels of competition and for some you won't be able to get any of the articles, images, bookmarks etc in the top 10 – well, maybe with a LOT of effort and over time.
